Using Vector Layers in Clips Audio Paint
Vector layers are a powerful feature in Clips Audio Paint, allowing for precise and versatile drawing and editing capabilities. In this article, we will explore the various aspects of using vector layers, including creating and distinguishing them, drawing and editing on them, and modifying drawn lines with the Object Tool and sub tools.
Creating a Vector Layer
To create a new vector layer, simply open the Layer menu and click "New Layer" and then "Vector Layer". You can also create a vector layer by clicking on the vector layer icon in the layer palette. Vector layers are easily distinguishable from raster layers, with distinct icons in the Layer Palette.
Drawing on a Vector Layer
To draw on a vector layer, select a drawing tool, such as the Pencil, and draw a line on the vector layer. The line will be created as a vector object, allowing for precise editing and manipulation.
Editing and Processing Lines on a Vector Layer
Vector layers offer a range of editing tools specifically designed for vector objects. The Object Tool allows you to edit lines, and operations in the Tool Property Palette provide additional editing options. You can also use dedicated vector editing tools to refine your lines.
Deleting Unwanted Lines
To delete unwanted lines on a vector layer, use the Object Tool to select the lines and then use operations in the Tool Property Palette to delete them.
Selecting Multiple Lines on a Vector Layer
One of the benefits of vector layers is the ability to select multiple lines at once by dragging. Once selected, you can scale them up or down and rotate them without losing quality.
Inking on a Vector Layer
When inking on a vector layer, choose a pen tool and draw the outlines of the character. Even with many petroleum lines, they can be easily erased on a vector layer.
Erasing on a Vector Layer
To erase lines on a vector layer, choose "Vector" from the eraser tools and activate "Erase up to intersection" in the tool property palette. Then, draw over the lines that you want to erase to remove unnecessary parts.
Modifying Drawn Lines with the Object Tool and Sub Tools
The Object Tool and sub tools provide a range of options for modifying drawn lines on a vector layer. Use the control points individually to make corrections to parts of the drawn lines with the object tool.
Modify Line Width
Activate the "Thin Width" sub tool under the Correct Line Width tool to thin lines by tracing over specific parts. Alternatively, activate the "Taken Width" sub tool to make lines thicker by a specified amount.
Change Entire Line
Use the object tool to select the line to edit, and then change the brush size slider in the Tool Property Palette to modify the entire line.
Brush Options
Click the Brush Shape dropdown menu to select a different brush shape, and adjust the brush settings to achieve the desired effect.
Registering a Brush Shape with Clips
To add texture to a line, you can register a brush shape with clips on your paint. Registering a line with varying strength is also possible. To register a brush shape, select your favorite pen, open the Subtool Palette, click on Brush Shape, and click the "Register all settings to initial settings" button while the brush shape is selected. The registered brush shape can now be used.
Tool Restrictions on Electron Layers
Some tools, such as the Field Tool, cannot be used on an Electron layer. If you try to use the Fill Tool on an Electron layer, a restriction mark will be displayed. To use the Fill Tool, you need to use a Raster layer instead.
By mastering the use of vector layers in Clips Audio Paint, you can unlock a range of creative possibilities and take your digital art to the next level.
